USA Today Previews Afterlife With Archie #4
It started with Jughead, and a zombie virus raging through Riverdale now threatens Archie Andrews’ other best friend.
Out Wednesday, the fourth issue of the Archie Comics horror series Afterlife with Archie lurches toward the end of its first arc “Escape from Riverdale.” Archie’s left more of his gang infected at the old Lodge Mansion, and other teens in town have to decide between fight or flight.
Archie heads home only to find more terror: Jughead’s zombie canine Hot Dog is hungry for human scraps, and Archie’s pet Vegas rushes to protect his master.
It’s one of the hardest issues artist Francesco Francavilla — one half of the Afterlife creative team with writer Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa, the newly minted Archie chief creative officer — has had to draw in his comics career, he says. “And yet, one I am most proud of. You’ll see why.”
